Journals are a peculiar thing and I find myself often times more scatterbrained than need be. I'm sure I'll lose this somewhere along the way and have it find its way back eventually.
I've begun to chronicle my adventures, however, because I believe that from here on out my life will become more than my books and my library. (Alexandria, I shall miss you. Fondly, you will always be my home.) I've begun a quest to find my sister Titania, however grudgingly so, in order to procure information from her. I'm aware that she runs with the seedier sorts, and I'd like to think she might have some information on a Sidhe named 'Xyn'. I learned recently, through a nice young woman named Nadia Valentine, that he had apparently been parading around as some sort of silver tongued diplomat and done a fine job of it too. I know his sort, however, the children snatching, magicking sort, though I haven't any idea how this.. thing my brother sent me ties in to it.
There are no records of this 'Xyn' existing anywhere in my research, though I did learn of a Leanan Sidhe who happened also to have been wed, at one time, to an Unseelie monarch. Anyone in the know of the Leanan are surely aware of their treacherous activities, much similar to succubus in Christian mythology. I have theories that are not yet to be written, for fear of making them true by accident. Words are powerful things, after all.
And I've lost track of myself. I'll start at the beginning.
The journey from Alexandria was smooth, if long, and I've come to learn just how much the world has changed since my parting of ways with my siblings, beginning my journey in to the world of knowledge. I was on a street somewhere in France attempting to cross when a rather advanced looking carriage trundled past and nearly ran me over with little thought to my own well being. I probably would have attempted a second crossing had my well aged brother not shown up. (We shall find in due time if we de'Dannan age as cheese do and become better along the way.) It was a conflicted feeling due to the terrible terms of our parting, but business is business and he wouldn't have sent me that magical orb had he not thought it was important. On speaking to him of my findings on the orb, imploring him that some information was best left for privacy, we met a man.
He was charming, giving me flowers from nowhere, I was surprised that men in this day and age continue to do things like that, serving ladies flowers. A true gentleman at best, I must say, though Rowane seemed not to like him at all. He was hurried away but not before giving me a slip of paper with his name and an address, a Vittorio Yonescu.
Before I could strike conversation up with my brother again, however, we were joined by a woman so strikingly familiar that I cannot quite put my finger on it. She bears many qualities and traits of someone whose name has been lost at the tip of my tongue. Yes, this was Nadia Valentine begging my brother for help, and he, who is so disinclined to involve himself in anything, jumped to her aide as if it were life and death for himself. I was surprised, and pleasantly so. Her child, Kendrew, has been stolen away from her and the name 'Xyn' once again popped up, as it did in my brother's letter to me. It was hard to get a word in edgewise, but eventually I managed to ask us off the dirty streets and she led us to a rather lavish home where we then began to put connections together.
The orb came in to my brother's hands through a young Knight named Lucas, who apparently retrieved it from a child that had, at one point, been in Xyn's care, which leads me back to where I had begun. The orb, if I am correct, may hold the soul of a Leanan Sidhe, and the former Unseelie Queen, though the only way to find out is to open it. What this child stealing Xyn would want with it, I do not know, though I pray only that he does not attempt to send for it again. Too many people have fallen prey to its bad luck, so I shall keep it with me for now. I trust my magics more than any other.
Though... I have to wonder how Mrs. Valentine came in to the possession of a few, rare other artifacts, also Sidhe in nature...
